The original Shure Level-Loc from the 1960s was designed as a simple and affordable compressor/limiter for speech reinforcement and leveling in live sound and broadcast applications, where it performed exceptionally well.
Over time, it became a sought-after secret weapon among studio engineers, known for its aggressive and heavy-handed compression style.
The Level-Loc delivers intense saturation and character to any signal, making it especially popular on drum buses for its punchy and gritty sound.
